When you want to write a song and you got stuck with your chords, just take a look at this chart below.
You should be reading that horizontally not vertically
Simply pick out any key( represented by a row of chords- in this case I selected a key of C major) Any chord you choose from selected area should work within your song or chord progression) because it's within a key of C major. You can try that with other key by choosing another row.... This chart actually applies to minor keys as well. As you probably know each Major key has it's relative minor So in case of C major scale -your relative minor key will be "a minor" built on the sixth degree of the Major scale
or C Major scale chord progression. This rule applies to ny key
